Hat help

We have a couple of friends in our circle who are deserving of knits. Both are mountain dwellers and of an age where beanies miss the mark.

Suggestions? Por favor?

Elann has a free pattern for a double thick hat knit from sock yarn:  http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=266024  It has 4 layers over the ears with a cuff, which makes it more wind resistant, & comes in a wide array of sizes.  It goes really fast even though it's done on size 3 needles.  Not sure exactly why beanies are not appropriate but hope this helps.

I have a cute pattern for a reversible hat knit with two skeins of sock yarn -- one print one solid.  Let me know if you want it.  Warm, light and wooly.
