It’s such a different medium. That first row makes one want to visit the local sanitarium for a little quiet time in a padded room. Then once that's dispatched, there are these odd rules. At the beginning of a single-crochet row, one grabs the stitch at the base of the turning chain, but if it’s a double-crochet row, one skips that stitch, moving on to crochet the next little “v.”
That makes a degree of sense, but then one runs up against the row’s end where one has to decide, A) which stitch is the actual, real-live, honest-to-God last stitch given they’re all huddled up together having one big hen party, and B) does one stop and turn right then and there or proceed to hook that elusive turning chain? And if one doesn’t choose correctly, what are the consequences? And it all depends on whether one is single or double crocheting. This is a lot to remember as one speeds down the acrylic highway.
You’ll notice that my crochet work needs a little…finesse. But the speed? Welcome to the Crochetbahn!
